1500chan, also known as Caravela (referencing the ships used by the Portuguese Empire to colonize Brazil), and, before being renamed, as HUEChan, is a Brazilian imageboard running on Vichan, the same thing that sites like Soyjak.party and Minions.gt.tc run on. It was created in 2013[1], following BRchan's closure (April 19th of the same year). It was founded by two individuals, N. and R., the former having experience as a mod on the previous *chan. Thanks to 55Chan and SFChan refugees (who migrated around 2020-2021), the site is very popular, and is similar to Nairaland as sometimes it crashes because of how popular some of the boards are. Its way of listing board links - all to the left - is more reminiscent to that of old 4chan than anything else.
The only language allowed is PortuGEESE btw if that matters.
History
[edit | edit source]After the 8chan board /brasil/- Brasília was locked following the controversial 2022 election in Brazil, HUELGA, an active user and namefag who deserves his own article, purchased 1500chan.org which had previously been a Limewire redirect[or however the fact is unchecked]. The site originally had 4 boards, /x/- Paranormal e Assustadora, /pr0n/- Pornô
, /jp/- Otaku cultura, and /tra/- Trabalhar. However, the site grew in popularity following shilling on Leftypol’s /latam/ board, and shilling on Endchan’s /hispa/ board for Hispanics. Following the 2022 election where Jair Bolsonaro controversially lost, (most users are conservative), multiple people threatened to kill the person who beat Bolsonaro. This led to multiple Brazilian news stations covering 1500chan, which led to more immigrants. Today around 60% of the site is schizo rants about leftist Brazilians, or porn, making the site obsessed brimstone o algo.
