Uboachan, also known as ubuu by its users, is a niche imageboard that was first owned by a Desuchan regular. Its main topic is an indie(slop?) game (whose fandom is infested with undesirables according to many soyteens) called Yume Nikki. There already are big 'Ki articles on both the site and the game, therefore this article exists to document what has not already been chronicled there. Starting with the game itself...
Yume Nikki
[edit | edit source]...is a RPG Maker 2003 game. Notably it is minimalist and absurdist in its design, especially if we are to consider the soundtrack, which sounds like impressionism bestowed upon two successive looping tunes. It was created by possible hikikomori KIKIYAMA, also known as Kikeyama[Nobody says this], whose real identity is unknown to us. He uploaded all of the versions of his game one by one on 2chan, starting on June 26th, 2004, when the first was published, however most early versions (0.00 - 0.03 and 0.05) are lost to time and little is known about the changes made in their respective time periods. The most recent version (and the one that everyone plays) is version 0.10a. Following said version, the creator disappeared from the face of the planet save for a couple of instances wherein he would approve the creation of Yume Nikki: Dream Diary (Yume Nikki already means dream diary in Japanese. Besides, this remake is considered a fail by many, as it brings scarcely anything new to the table) and the manufacturing of merchandise.
There are multiple events, such as Uboa and FACE. The most notable one is the ending, as you kill yourself therein. This has lead to many theories regarding why a person who is most likely still in her late childhood would commit such an act; the most popular theory is that she was raped by a jartycuck, however Kikeyama once said that the game holds no deeper meaning. That might make sense, since the game looks like a personal project more than anything else.
Troonslop allegations
[edit | edit source]This game is considered by many soysphere inhabitants to epitomize troonslop and/or indieslop, however one must remember its fandom was not made by troons for troons and that it most likely is a game made for the sake of art. Interacting with Yume Nikki fans is not a gratifying experience notwithstanding. There are some questionable depictions of Madotsuki (protagonist) which are harbored on Uboachan or otherwise if you look deep enough. All this is to say: blame the fans, not necessarily the game (or blame that too if you so wish).

[edit | edit source]Relevant to the ban on "hate speech", "nigger" is filtered to "ninja". "Fag" may have been filtered to "friend" at one point (or, perhaps, the users changed the suffix themselves to avoid banishment) in reference to when 4chan tried becoming family-friendly as they were expecting being mentioned on TV following the Jessie Slaughter incident (rules 1 and 2 of the Internet were never broken, however, and the whole "event" turned into a complete fiasco).

Userbase

If you stumble upon this imageboard, you will have the opportunity to observe cases of metawhining and obsessing over Omori, Undertale (who are seen as lesser versions of YN; their fandoms are also arguably worse) and sometimes even YN fangames, if we are talking about a haughty purist. Its userbase has adopted modern IB slang, sometimes even using a tad bit of soyspeak. It can certainly be said it encourages posting rather than lurking, despite this they exhibit aggressiveness every now and then. Expect petty drama as well.
Foreign relations

Uboachan is chiefly the Iceland of the Chanosphere, as pretty much all of its relationships are positive. It hosts sushigirl and lainzine's URLs on its main page. Despite what big 'Ki says, Uboachan is relatively tolerant when it comes to soyteens. Uboafags are alright with them as long as they don't post 'jaks or spam 'P (even though the Sharty didn't do nuffin in that sense, or perhaps some of its edgecore members from 2023/4 did). As a matter of fact, many altchan inhabitants take their time to visit Uboachan.
Notable recent events
[edit | edit source]- The tranny mega thread: it got JSID'd, kek![1] Here we can see how a true oldfag learned about vivald traisos through that thread, he is glad it got baleeted. Anyways, this thread was a shitfest more than it was anything else.
- The Collective Unconscious fiasco: a collectively-built fangame hosted on ynoproject was almost shut down because of one or two developers acting like manchildren. This had some spillover on Uboachan, but not much else other than a nice little GET is notable (see one of the images below).
- April Fools 2026: Uboachan's main page redirects to Reddit. The Shemmy thought this was a great idea and belatedly adopted the same idea, just permanently.
- The 'cord shutdown: on April 2nd, 2026, some acquaintance of seagal (admin) asked him to axe the official 'cord server because it was killing Uboachan's activity and because, surprise, surprise, it attracted many degenerates. Eventually, a middle ground was reached: Uboachan would no longer link to their 'cord, thus separating the two communities. A thread was made regarding this on the Swinny around ten days later. In conclusion: if you are a small forum or imageboard, do NOT make your own Discord server! There are only disadvantages awaiting you if you do.
- Huganon threads: Starting around 2010, a tulpafag (maybe not a tulpafag, but akin to one nonetheless) told everyone how he wanted to hug Madotsuki because he felt a personal attachment to her (this illusionary relationship is commonly seen in with nigh every YN fan, since you associate your emotional experiences that come to be while you play the game to the character whose subconscious you are presumably exploring; thus, you end up considering yourself more than a mere observer. This is accentuated by the game's elusive nature and by its tendency to unintentionally showcase you ineffable audio fragments of unreachable dimensions that you will eventually want to be absorbed into, considering the real world as inferior to such imaginary landscapes. A similar psychological effect can be seen when Swann from Proust's In Search of Lost Time becomes even more obsessed with Odette once he associates a musical piece with their presumed love). He got himself into an asylum once and he last posted in early 2025, when he inferred he might die very soon.

I have not been physically able to leave the hospital room for a while now. My condition got a bit better during this week, but we all know what that means. I had my family with me, and we had a good time for Christmas and New Year. They did not want to say their good byes, but I could see in their faces the masked sadness. I want to thank all of you, who followed me during sooo many years. I wanted to say that I have read and tried pretty much everything that was said in here. Anyway, the tulpa thing… it did not really work, I have tried to create it like Mado, but the Tulpa itself refused to let me think she was Mado. I don't know how to explain, but it was not Mado. It was, however, something that supported me in the search. Mado is back in my dreams though. She is just standing there, looking away from me. I can see her back against the night sky.
Remember, even if there are days when the tears won't stop, even if there are lonely nights, you are not alone. I was not alone, for you are all my precious friends who where there with me. You all be good now, I wish happiness to everyone. Keep the dream alive in your hearts, love you all.
