Guide Against Online Grooming (also known as GOAG for short), is a SNCApedia page to help deal with the constant rise of pedophiles in online platform.

Definition

It is important to understand definitions when it comes to dealing with things, you can't just shout pedophile at somebody for simply doing something you dislike. You have to follow obvious definitions.

What are the different types of grooming?

This section covers two main categories: Indirect Grooming and Direct Grooming.

Indirect grooming

Indirect grooming also generally known as EPI, refers to methods that are not immediately targeted at a specific individual and are often more subtle in nature. These can influence or expose individuals to grooming behaviors over time without direct interaction.

This involves platform algorithms promoting or recommending content that may normalize inappropriate behavior, blur boundaries, or expose users to unsafe communities. Over time, this can lower a person's awareness of risk and make them more vulnerable to grooming.

Direct grooming involves individuals or groups actively targeting and interacting with a specific person with the intent to manipulate, exploit, or abuse them.

This includes direct messaging, forming relationships, building trust, and gradually escalating conversations or behavior toward manipulation or exploitation.
