One might think that soyteens, living in a wildly different ecosystem compared to oldfags, would create a proportionally distinct slang. This is, however, not the case: many parallels can be drawn not only between oldfag history/culture and soystory/soy culture, but also between 4chan slang and soyspeak. This page is meant to showcase such similarities and demonstrate the analogous nature of the two groups. Oldfag terms that are still (occasionally) used to this day in the soysphere (excluding /sude/) will be marked with an asterisk. Conversely, terms used by soyteens that are not actually part of soyspeak (and might originate from, say, 2010's 4chan) will have two asterisks next to them.
| Oldfag term | Soyspeak/Term used by soyteens | Origin of expressions | Additional notes (i.e. key-differences, if there are any) | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | BAWWW | seethe** | a) Comes from a diaper fetish furfag comic.
b) Exact origin unknown. Dates back to around 2018 (perhaps even further back), when someone first wrote a definition of it on the Urban Dictionary. |
- |
| 2 | lulz | seetherald (approx.) | a) Bastardization of lol.
b) Seethe + gemerald. |
Both terms indicate Schadenfreude to some degree. Lulz, however, is a broader term, and cannot only be pinpointed to Schadenfreude. |
| 3 | raeg | feral | a) Intentional misspelling of rage (note that rage can still be used to convey the same term).
b) Derived from Feraljak. |
- |
| 4 | win | gem | a) Verb-to-noun conversion.
b) Part of mineral rating system. |
Gem is, in this case, part of a more complex semantic field, while win only has an antonym: fail. Therefore, win is a more general term than gem. |
| 5 | epic win | gemerald (approx.) | a) Epic + win.
b) Gem + emerald. |
Same distinction as the one between win and gem, this time even more evident, as gemerald |
| 6 | ZOMG! | WAOW!/Oh my science!/Oh my Fauci! | a) Intentional misspelling.
b) Phrases meant to mock soyboys who are hardline atheists. |
The former holds less maliciousness than the latter in terms of sarcasm. |
| 7 | fail | coal | a) See 4.
b) See 4. |
See 4. |
| 8 | epic fail | - | a) Meant to describe a "fail" so foolish it would bring great humour with it. | At this point, the MRS deviates semantically from the win-fail dichotomy so much, its analogous terms cannot be considered synonymous anymore. Brimstone or vantablack would be the analogous terms. |
| 9 | CP* | 'p | a) Abbreviation of child pornography. Euphemisms like cheese pizza and Captain Picard describe the same thing.
b) Apostrophization of CP. Theoretically doesn't count since apostrophization can be applied to any term, however is it a standalone term, which is why I am including it. |
Many soyteens call 'p loli/shota/jailbait, which are grey area content, while most oldfags do not consider those to be CP. Unrelated to this distinction (or lack thereof), 'p is many times used in an exaggerate manner in the Soysphere. |
| 10 | 4chan party van (noun)
Party vanned/V& (verb) |
Feds**/Glowies**/Glowniggers** (noun)
Fedded** (verb) |
a) Originates from a comic wherein an anon is arrested via a FBI van which has "4chan party van" written on it.
b) "Feds" is also used IRL, which may be where it came from. "Glowie" refers to Terry Davis' statement "The CIA niggers glow in the dark". |
"Glowies" usually refers to the CIA, while "4chan party van" refers to the FBI. |
| 11 | lol*/kek* | geg/kek** (frogposters) | a) Lol is an usenet era term. Kek is tied to Pepe the frog.
b) An alternative way to pronounce kek. Irish in origin. |
- |
| 12 | lulzy | geggy | a) Adjective derived from lulz.

Despite lulz and geg not being interchangeable, their respective adjectives are, as the adjective adjacent to lulz did not manage to carry its full meaning. |
| 13 | lolwut | marge | a) Lol + what, also has an image macro associated with it.
b) Derives from a leebait edit of a Simpsons scene involving the character Marge Bouvier Simpson. |
"Marge" only expresses confusion, while "lolwut" can also be a way of conveyin humour. |
| 14 | - | margerald | b) Marge + (g)emerald. | Usually describes nonsense with a high amount of effort put into it. |
| 15 | HA HA HA, OH WOW | OHNONONO [x] WHAT IS THIS?/DO [x] REALLY? (frogposters, ocassionally soyposters as well) (approx.) | a) Comes from a Tintin comic strip. Sometimes used IRL by groups unaffiliated with the Chanosphere.
b) Unknown. |
The latter is used in "baiting" posts, while the former's use cases are more complex (and not very well documented). |
| 16 | femanon | foid**/an foid/Kate (rarely) | a) Female + Anon.
b) Initially an incel term, now used in a mostly non-derogatory manner (in order to scare off-siters, among other purposes). |
"Femanon" refers specifically to a woman that has entered the Chanosphere. "Kate" comes from "Kate Hikes", which is supposed to be a female version of Nate Higgers. |
| 17 | qt 3.14 | OMGSISA/OMGHISA/OMGXISA | a) Spells out "Cutie pie".
b) Acronym for "Oh my God, she/he/xe is so attractive". |
Both can be used ironically, especially the soyspeak term. |
| 18 | tranny* | troon** | a) Pejorative term for b) Came from Something Awful of all places (trans + goon, a SA user). The Soysphere uses it pejoratively WHICH IS A GOOD THING FUCK TROONS. |
- |

b) Varies depending on the context wherein the suffix is used. Connotations also differ wildly. |
The -fag suffix, which became independent of its derogatory connotation, started a tendency of usin |
| 20 | oldfag* | oldtroon/oldfag (specifically refering to soyjak.party users) | a) Old + -fag.
b) Oldfag + troon. |
Oldtroon is always pejorative and mostly refers to non-Soysphere oldfags, but it can be used alternatively with oldfag, which is also used to denote Soysphere oldfags. |
| 21 | newfag* | nusoi/newGOD | a) New + -fag.
b) Nu-male (disputed) + soiteen (alternate form of soyteen). |
There is a very clear difference between nusoi and newGOD, unlike in the case of newfag, a term which has less nuance and is typically used to name new users who cause a decrease of website quality. NewGOD and nusoi are two terms that are (or should be) about as strict in terms of meaning as newfag, if not even more. A nusoi is a type of newfag (usually having 1 month - 1 year of activity behind them) that mocks other newfags (also calling them nusois. This means the secondary definition of the word is necessary to understanding its primary one). A newGOD is a newfag that is generally viewed positively by the community due to his willing to assimilate therein. |

b) Soy + boy. |

b) Used to mock transsexuals. |
The latter is also obtained if you get the "Alicia" nameroll on /soy/. It is pretty much never used for false-flagging. |
| 24 | divide by zero | - | a) Based on the fact you cannot divide by zero unless you consider zero to be an arbitrarily small number, in which case the result will be an arbitrarily large number, i.e. infinity. | A correlated term is Thrembo as they are both regarded as mathematical memes. Another similarty is how both are jokingly considered to be beyond normal human comprehension. |
| 25 | trolling* | baiting** (approx.) | a) Initially a fishing term that was first used in the pre-usenet era of the Internet.
b) Also a fishing term. Came about later. |
Baiting specifically refers to trolling soyteens by posting "bait" (shocking or lascivious media that is meant to garner replies and generally an emotonal response). |
| 26 | an hero (noun, verb) | -ACK! (interj.) | a) Was coined once some friends of Mitchell Henderson (who commited suicide for unknown reasons) edited his Myspace account, writing about him, an misspelled "a hero".
b) Onomatopeia for the sound a tranny makes when he is being asphyxiated, similar to the death rattle. Used to interrupt phrases in the soysphere for additional humour. |
Theoretically they are not synonyms as they are different parts of speech. |
| 27 | over 9000 | a gorbillion**/a thrembillion | a) In reference to a Dragon Ball Z sequence.
b) Gorbillion is a chuddy dogwhistle meant to mock the constant emphasis put on the Holocaust's death toll by the media. Thrembillion = gorbillion + thrembo. |
- |
| 28 | pwn | BTFO** | a) Punch + own.
b) Abbreviation for bail the fuck out. |

Moreover, there are "oldfag" terms still being used in the soysphere while having no soysphere counterparts. AIDS is one example of this. "Tranny" could potetially be one of those terms as "troon" was not made to replace an obsolete term, rather it was created exaclty since the former became too well known.
Some cultural phenomena are also reminiscent of one another, as previously mentioned. One example would be transsexualism
, which is today's equivalent of emo culture that experienced a surge in the late 2000s/ early 2010s.
