Anime is iron.Anime, formerly Japanimation, is a style of animation originating from Japan. Anime and its fans, colloquially known as "weebs" short for weaboo, are a controversial demographic on the soyosphere. Prior to late 2023 or early 2024 most soyteens were not particularly pro or anti anime beyond calling it tranime, primarily to trigger oldfags and oldfag larpers on 4chan, however the doxxing of lolicon and grifter RevSaysDesu the soyosphere, especially the sharty and soybooru became significantly more hostile to anime. Accusations of pedophilia aimed at soyteen weebs would increase, despite the overwhelming majority of CSAM spammed on the site being of actual children. The scapegoating of anime would continue, seemingly encouraged by the sharty staff, ironic given their track record of forcing media created almost entirely if not exclusively for sexual gratification with no intended artistic merit on a website frequented by minors with rules explicitly allowing those at least 16 to declare themselves as such.
Outside of the soysphere, anime is typically consumed by individuals that would commonly meet the characteristics of a potential nuvariant reference image. However, in recent years, it has started to become more and more normalized as streaming services gave more people access to anime, the media form. Thus, a real-life debate on whether anime is gemmy or brimstone ensues.
