Avatarfag

An Avatarfag is a user of an imageboard who decides to post with an identifiable quality in their posts (their avatar). As opposed to Namefags, who usually just write their name in the "name" field, Avatarfags will use images, typing patterns, or other means of being identifiable other than a name. Examples of Avatarfags include Lee Goldson, as he never named himself, rather using the "Bronies, this is your mindset" image along with his distinctive typing style to be identified. Avatarfags can be harder to pick out if they post infrequently or choose a commonly-posted thing to be their avatar, and therefore they usually last longer than Namefags who will often be banned immediately on Soysphere sites. Namefags and Avatarfags have great overlap, so to know which one you're dealing with consider a few criteria:

1. Do they not have a unanimously agreed upon name?
2. Do they not have a schlog/shroom account?
3. Could you pick them out just from a text post?
4. Do they rarely refer to themselves in the first person?

If yes to most of these questions, you're dealing with an Avatarfag.
